Oh, of course. We saw one of these a couple of years ago and you identified it then for us too.

"Look for the elephant" people told me when I first moved to Corvallis. Of course I was looking for an actual peak, not these mere foothill Coast Range bumps.

Brownsville has a cool historical museum, used to have a stuffed two-headed calf in the hardware store window, and there is a gigantic wisteria vine climbing up the tree outside the Moyer House. But best of all is the weird Living Rock Studio which I won't describe to you, you have to see it for yourself.

They were great, as I remember them now, over 60 years later. Well before your time, I’m sure.

If a baby turkey's a poult
And a baby horse is a colt
Then what's a young frog?
Tadpole? Pollywog?
And who is Daniel L. Schmoldt?

Poults. I knew there was a word for them, but was too lazy to look it up. Thanks!

The problem is that large scale farmers irrigate on a schedule, irrespective of the weather. We have the same issue with the guy who has a hay field behind our house. He waters in the rain on occasion also. Drives us nuts.

This one will probably live longer than average. Just a guess. Also, baby ducks are called ducklings, I believe.

Young turkeys are called poults, I believe.

Definitely. Radish old growth!

Great to know. This would never have occurred to me.

I recognize the leaves, but didn’t realize it would grow so tall when it went to seed. So would you call this old growth?

Now that I see a closer-up photo I know for sure they are radishes going to seed. I remember them well from when I worked for a summer at Northrup King Seeds World Headquarters on their huge experimental plot.
