Yes isn’t it got it in San Sebastián and wish I had got one like it for me. A very relaxing time here in Lyon. A good rest until tjr flight home. Watching lots of Tour de Francy
5 months agoNice shirt.
5 months agoWe have previously stored my bike in Europe. This is relatively expensive and of course commits you to starting the next tour in the same place. Whether or not we will do another tour is uncertain (things happen when you are in your mid 80s!). The bikes are 6 years old done about 8000k over 3 trips and have served us.
5 months agoI have a retro fit ebike and I met a local rider who had the same as I had with an external battery. He had the bikeshopwhich did our conversions to deliver a battery to an address in England which he left behind after his tour awaiting his next European tour and took his bike back with him.
5 months agoThat's the only problem with France - no parkruns!
5 months agoBig problem if you ride an electric bike. They dont allow the batteries on a plane
5 months agoWe really had done the trip we had planned (and because there were no Park Runs) and with Kens tooth issue and the heat it just seemed the best thing to do
5 months agoDisposable bikes, saves all that packaging and airport hassles!
5 months agoA good outcome given the intense heat. Watching the Tour de France, the pro riders are struggling with the high temperatures too. Well done on reaching Avignon and safe travels home.
5 months agoI was wondering. Glad you were only time traveling.
5 months agoNo we are happy about it Scott as we had accomplished what we wanted though got there a little sooner than we thought. We have proved to ourselves that with age appropriate routes cycle touring is still possible at our age. Next time we will consider following your example with multiple night stops. Personally however I think that ken should consider an ebike as me certainly finds hills more of a challenge
As far as the tooth is concerned it is so much better and will certainly hold till we get home
We continue to enjoy following your journey
thanks for that Steve. We are really pleased with our trip as we accomplished what we wanted m and I hope showed that with the right routes you can keep cycling until well into old age. I personally think however that ken should consider an ebike! The antibiotics seem to be doing the trick his tooth much better and hold on till he gets home. Note the cost of a dentist including X rays was only 23E
5 months agoI’m sorry you’re having to end your trip this way but you can be proud of making it to Avignon. Well done, and thanks for taking us along! Good luck with Ken’s tooth situation. I always feel like it’s a matter of time up until that happens to me also.
5 months agoIt sounds like Plan B for your return home is very sensible. Hope the antibiotics keep Ken's toothache at bay until your return home and your time in Lyon is fun. Keep us all posted until you are safely back in NZ.

Happy to see new posts! I’m sure some of us have been concerned at the radio silence after your water adventures. Sure looks hot!
