Thanks for posting, Anthony and glad you two had such a great trip. And thanks for being frank about your experiences of biking while Black. People need to know.
I look forward to more of your rides. Chapeau!
Oh, what fun! Great photo.
3 years agoI agree with you, Allison, on disliking rough road. It’s definitely harder for women. Make sure you have good padded bicycle shorts and chamois cream. Sorry about the rain but the scenery was beautiful.

3 years agoWow what luck running in to friends that could help!
3 years agoNow that’s a first day of a tour for the books. Sheesh. And welcome to CycleBlaze. Nice to see you here.
3 years agoWelcome to the wonderful world of bicycle touring! Sorry you had such a hard day. You sure are tough. I love your writing and photos.
3 years agoGreat journal, Anthony. Thanks for sharing your experience. And your observation fits our own - outside of cities we encounter very few non-white cyclists. Well, and not all that many younger bike tourists either, as far as that goes. It’s uplifting to see you out there.
Congrats to both of you on a successful first tour together! I’ll look forward to the next installment.
Wow, what a great shot. Those clouds!
3 years agoBeautiful shot. Makes me want to be there.
3 years agoSounds like a great adventure, but a shame you missed out on looking around Shephardstown and Harpers Ferry. Both well worth a look, and you’re right - you’ll have to go back.

That orange waterfall is acid runoff from coal mining, and is completely void of wildlife. It is often photographed and posted by cycle tourists.
