Sorry about the confusion on my part. I remember now that Speedy was the elder brother.
3 years agoMy husband Rodney's brother (Nigel) was called Speedy. My hubbies nickname was Flash.
Glad you found the museum and that it was of interest. Rebecca is brilliant and she is a real asset to the museum. š
Good luck with your piece to Williston. I've not yet done that part of SA, so I am very much looking forward to your reports.

Hi Mike
The prospect of more washboard has had us avoiding the road from Loxton to Williston via Fraserburg and instead we have used the road via Carnarvon with is tarred.

Jean-Marc
Hi Scott. My apologies for the taking so long to reply but I didn't have much to contribute at the time. Since then I have come upon the following group on Facebook that you might find interesting and useful. "South African Bicycle Touring, Bike Packing Travelers & Warmshowers Hosts" found at https://web.facebook.com/groups/269463207290350

3 years agoIām really excited to follow along on this one. More than once Rachael and I have researched a South Cape tour but could never quite decide if it sounded safe. It will be great to get a first hand report.

Very interesting, though I wondered what a "corbelled house" could be. As a (retired) structural engineer, I think of a corbel as a structural element projecting from a wall or column to support a structure above so my first though on seeing this photo was "what's missing?" (We never used corbel as a verb.)
