Kudos to Jacinto for taking on the Mt. Nebo Scenic Loop climb, it was used in the Tour of Utah several times and it's Epic! Steeper climb from the South the way he is doing it but that makes the 10 rolling miles on the ridgetop between 8-9,000 feet mostly fast and fun and the descent from Payson Lakes into Payson is an all timer. With a southerly aspect and no shade for pretty much the entire climb even Jacinto might benefit from a relatively early start?

2 years agoLooks like it to me. Aren’t those giant 3-D glasses on the wall?
2 years agoGreat clouds! He’s lucky to get a summit sign - so many passes in Utah lack them.
2 years ago"There also appeared to be a veal calf operation, with a lot of small fiberglass houses with calves. That was sad. Real life, but, still sad. "
I became a vegetarian after observing this kind of thing on bike tours (the cramped feed lots, disgustingly stinking and crowded industrial chicken and turkey operations, etc.)
Most people don't get close enough to observe the ugly reality of what it takes to provide their food in antiseptic packaging in supermarkets.
Sorry for the mini-rant ;)
I'm enjoying your journal.
I remember driving north from I-70 through that valley last year. It seemed like a nice place for a ride.
2 years agoI presumed it must be a Bible. The Book of Mormon is always left closed. Mormons are less in your face than Evangelicals.
2 years agoVery good eye. A Bible. My daughter asked what it was turned to, I didn’t look.
2 years agoIs that a Bible or Book of Mormon?

2 years agoSorry it was so hot and hard, but isn’t this a gorgeous area? Might be my favorite ride in southern Utah.
2 years agoYour route was familiar to us. The last time we toured through Utah, we rode from Koosharem to Torrey over that summit. It wasn't bad going in that direction. It's a pretty area and one we'd like to return to in the future. There are sure some nice valley's in Utah!
2 years agoHuh. We’ve got tafoni formations in the Santa Cruz Mountains, which are not mountains by Colorado standards.
