Awesome. It’s no wonder you love cycling here.
2 years agoGlad you survived your drinking bout! If I did the same, I would have stayed in bed bd the next day.
2 years agoThank you - we had a major discussion on food and what to carry. I am concerned about liquids. The guys, not so much. At least it won't be hot.
2 years agoToday is the last day for the pillows. That takes them down to $2. per use, each. Oren bought one also, but left his, still in the plastic, in the room. I tried to get him to continue carrying it, as it made him much more visible going down the road. No go.
2 years agoHave a great ride tomorrow!
2 years agoBut if it rains will you jettison them onto the side of the road or carry them, waterlogged, into the next town:)
2 years agoUse your new seat towel for a pillow when you get to Twin Lakes. I’m sure it will work well.
2 years agoInteresting - I met a cyclist from England on my Western Express tour, and he was also riding 100 mile days from San Francisco to the east coast. But he had a support crew of 2 guys in a van that enabled him - for instance, he could ride 15 miles past a town to get in his 100 miles for the day, and the crew would pick him up and carry him to town, then bring him back the next morning to start off where he had finished - so his 100 mile days were much easier than this fellow who has to start and stop at places based on lodging or campsites.
2 years agoBut they felt Soooo good!
spoon
PS, believe it or not, Spoon is on the wagon for this upcoming BAK tour
You must be feeling very well indeed then, because you look great!
2 years agoThat still sounds like a sciatic condition to me. I’ve struggled with sciatica in the past too - it was bad enough at one point that I was hesitant to cross the street in front of our condo, afraid I’d get trapped in the middle and unable to walk further. Paradoxically, I quit having issues like this once we moved to Portland and I started routinely walking a few miles a day. Between that and cycling regularly I haven’t had any significant back issues for probably 20 years.
2 years agoI'd really like to know the source of this issue. Sciatic nerve has been mentioned. I do have sciatic issues on that side occasionally, but that is more of a zinging all the way down my leg, through my butt. This was completely different. I couldn't walk properly, or lift that leg to the side in any fashion, not even with my toe to kick the kickstand. Lifting my leg over my low recumbent was also an issue. Happily, I can now do those things. The issue resolved in just a few days.
Tomorrow we have another pass. It's about the same total climbing, but we get up over 10,000 feet. I think it is going to be awhile before we are hot again!
I’m glad your hip is feeling better. Great job on the climb!
2 years agoSounds like the climb was a piece of cake for you - way to go!!!
