2 years agoLooks like a gray baboon spider. This tarantula species seems to be prized in the pet trade.

2 years agoSometimes they are very "quiet" looking as I almost always wait for cars and truck to go by before I take my picture. But yes, overall, it wasn't all that busy so easy to time my photos without vehicles.

2 years agoPorridge from ground maize (corn) eaten all over Africa.
Similar to "grits" eaten in parts of the USA.
It's a variety of Red Hot Poker (Kniphofia) which is in fact native to Africa but widely sold even here in Canada.
