From having read Riann Manser's book and then hearing about your visa problem(s), it seems as though the process can be the most stressful part of such a trip. It seems "the rub" for trying to get all of one's visas ahead of time is that you have to know the dates of visitation. Sometimes, on a bicycle trip, that is pretty hard to nail down precisely. Do you have any further guidance, from experience, that you could share?
8 months agoThank-you Kim. The address of a hotel or place of lodging is helpful.
I am a USA citizen. From what I can tell, you are as well. I hope that bodes well for me getting a visa.
I had a contact address, but usually, just put your hotel address for your first night.
I don’t know what nationality you are, but for me it was easy to get one at the border.
How difficult was it to get a visa for Namibia?
If someone does not have an address or a contact there, what else can be done?
All the best to you!

You're better off alone than with a toxic person.
Wonderful ride. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I remember riding up this one. It was nice to start seeing the tea plantations.
1 year agoThank you. Yes, if I remember internet was an issue and probably I just burnt out on trying to get it caught up. I did keep daily Facebook posts so I am using those to update this although some days I had ready to go. But, since I have to stay in chronological order, I couldn't skip ahead.
Getting ready to continue my adventures this spring so getting things up-to-date. Thanks for following along and no, I'm still alive and well. Well, mostly well. I'm recovering from foot and ankle surgery.
Thanks Mark. Well, technically, that part of the ride is done. Just trying to bring my journal up to date. Getting ready to head out this spring so must finish off old business first -- completing documenting this segment. Thanks for following along. It was a fantastic adventure.
1 year agoGood to see you picking up the narrative! I've been wondering for months how this trip ended. I always get nervous when journals just kind of end in the middle of nowhere!
1 year agoI think we stayed at the same place!

8 months agoAre you planning a trip? If so, to where?
I have always read the State department country page to confirm the visa requirements. I have always requested mine on arrival. This was the first time it's been an issue. E-Visa's seem to be becoming more common. As a US Citizen, it's rarely an issue.
