After looking at all kinds of websites, nothing really looks like this, but by ruling out pyrrhuloxia because of its much more robust beak and ruling out phainopepla because of its much thinner beak, about all that is left is a juvenile female cardinal.

I really like those birds. They always seem to have their beaks up in the air as if they own the world - - kind of like I have my nose up in the air when I'm feeling like an elite bike tourist.

It’s a pretty sick feeling alright. Did I ever tell you of the time we lost the key to to our bike lock on the coast of Spain yea ran ago? We probably have - it’s one of my favorite bike stories.

This was a stroke of luck. I don’t think I really knew who Dwight was before this, and just stumbled across him reading up on the train line. And no, we missed that one. I’d love to see it some day.

Great to hear Dwight's voice with this beautiful and desolate landscape.

Which reminds me.. did you see the Ken Burns series on country music?

That is some Anderson luck!

Reminds me of when Ron lost the car key on the beach .. and we found it.

Big sigh of relief!

And you'll ride on up to greet her when she comes. You'll ride the ol' Bike Friday when she comes.

And you'll pedal on together, you'll pedal on together, oh you'll both ride your Bike Fridays when she comes!

It must be a mutant since it’s near those toxic tailings.

I don't recall ever seeing a Saguaro with so many "arms."

You know, I thought about walking down dune a bit further to line up better, but this was far enough. Pretty steep slope.

Oh for Pete's sake! I have to wonder if you planned this ride just for the elevation profile, expecting a childish outburst from me. Unbelievable. Your attempt to pull me into the muck by this obvious mammarian stunt won't work. Not on me!
I won't stoop to this level. Maintaining my integrity.
Yep, staying the course.
Not gonna do it.
Aaahh, the hell with it.
BOOBS!!!

Hi Ann, I've had the premium version in past years and it's worth it for advanced route planning, stitching together segments and things like that. Aside from that, the basic is probably adequate. I've been playing with an app called Komoot, which has apparently has pretty sophisticated routing capabilities worldwide. I am using the free version now but they have a subscription option like RWGPS, and/or you can buy access to maps worldwide (updates free) for $30. It's worth checking out and it gets great reviews.
