Wasn’t that a good music selection though? It really brings out the isolation and loneliness of this region.

You won’t have to go far from Silverton to find riding like this, either - just head over to central Oregon and check out the country east of Dufur. No roadrunners though.

Love the song for today's video .. made me want to get out there and ride that rode.

I can imagine after living in NW Oregon again, we'll want to take some trips out into the desert. So cool that we have your journals to reference for road trip/ride ideas!

An interesting place just north of Rodeo is the Chiricahua Desert Museum. I attended a Lizard Biology Conference there spring 2 years ago.

I read up a bit on the various subspecies, and came away confused. I can’t tell if these are the same subspecies as we see in Sauvie Island each winter or not. Great to know that the young are termed colts. I’ve never heard that before.

Don’t think it was easy getting all of these moving parts to coordinate for me! Like herding cats, if cats could fly.

Love the sandhill crane video .. nothing like that sound!!

It prompted me to look up how tall they are .. do you know if it's the greater sandhill crane at 4.5 feet tall?

Also interesting to learn that a baby sandhill crane is called a colt.

Fascinating birds.

Lovely composition with the carefully placed clouds and shapely hills in the background!

Thanks! I got lucky again. Surprising that my favorite bird photo from Whitewater was of this little guy.

Hmm, you drive a hard bargain, pardner.

Sorry. It’s ours. We got here first. It is a pretty large space though. For a fee we could consider sharing it - say for the indefinite loan of a bottle opener.

I'm curious to hear more about Tombstone, but I'll wait until our HAC meeting later this month.

Lovely. Looks like Grumby country there.
