You stayed in Hotel Victoire! We just booked ourselves for 5 nights there as a base for day rides at the end of our tour. After we booked I decided to see if anyone else had been here, and found youse guys. We’ll be thinking of you.
2 years agoSorry for the late reply. Here is the link that may be of interest to you concerning our Sardinia tour the previous year.

"I know you keep us amused" - thanks for sharing.
6 years agoWhat a great trip ! Thanks for taking me along. Look forward to hearing more.
6 years agoWelcome home indeed. Now you can begin planning for your next tour.
6 years agoHi Scott and Pat,
I enjoyed reading about your tour. I've ridden on many of the same roads (not in Corsica, though) and it was fun revisiting them.
About cappuccino: not served in France, generally. You should ask for "café au lait" instead.
Cheers,
Keith
We learned early on in our trips to France to avoid the 900 level D roads, the lower numbers are much better, although you also can hit some busy ones . Isn't riding into the Mistral great?
6 years agoI’m glad to have the cliffhanger resolved about which mainland you were headed for. You made an excellent choice. That’s a wonderful area. Hope you get good weather.
6 years agoI posted a previous comment about a Sardinia tour my wife and I took.. Did you guys post your Sardegna (correct spelling, yes?) tour on another link? We would love to see that too..
6 years agoMy wife and I took a tour of Sardinia, very rugged but beautiful.. All ways wonder about Corscia.. Tanks for the views..
6 years agoI was surprised to see that they recommended the inland route too - we’ve been here twice and took the coast ride both times. The inland route looks pretty amazing too though. In fact, everyplace in Corsica looks pretty amazing.
6 years agoD81 was clearly dramatic and fun. But, never having been in Corsica, I put the Google stickman on D81B. It was revealed to be a narrow way - like a perfect bike path. It's no wonder car drivers would not like it. But it's surprising the bike shop did not flag that as a better bike way. It's so hard to trust what people tell you, and no doubt that would include me!
6 years agoOh, my gosh. What terrible luck with your tires! I wonder if you’re picking up thorns in the dry interior. Good luck on finding suitable tube replacements - that’s something that always worries me with the Fridays too.
On the plus side though, isn’t the Corsican interior wonderful? The whole island is really, but I really loved those villages in the north. And the coast ride from Calvi to Porto. It may be my favorite coast ride anywhere.
The bad weather is coming from the hurricane action off the east coast of the States, I think!

I have a hard enough time remembering names of towns let alone names of hotels. But I do remember Vence as having a very nice old town area. It looks like a good place to organize a base from, although hilly from what I recall. Glad you will be thinking of me - as I watch the rain falling out my window- wishing that I was there! I see that you and Rachael will have nice warm sunny days to enjoy the rides and the hiking. You are both very lucky.
