What a beautiful animal! A water dragon by any other name would look as sweet.

Hi Angela. Thanks for the invitation.
We would love to take you up on it.
There is a good chance we could pass by Orange. We're currently in Yass and heading northwards but have no clear idea of our route yet. My only concern is that we might clash with your busy dates. If you don't mind, I'll come back to you in a couple of days time once we find out how we're progressing.

Hello, We live in the country near Orange NSW, and would love to host you if you are coming this way and if the timing works out. We have a big crowd coming the 28th thru the 1st of April, so it would be difficult during those days but good any other time. We have a steep road in and a steep gravel driveway, but we have a Ute, so we can pick you up from somewhere if it works out. For our location look for Patina Wines. You can email me at anjinaef@gmail.com Look forward to hearing from you, happy cycling!

Hi Jean-Marc
You are making excellent progress considering the recent weather. Hopefully I’ll be able to see you in Canberra. Apologies we are unable to host you but I can show you around Canberra.
Perhaps I’ll be able to ride out to meet you on Monday if that suits you.

Note we are expecting some wet weather next week.

The hadedahs come a distant second!

So which are louder, a flock of Corellas or Hadedahs?

You probably have researched a route but one of several options is to ride to Kangaroo Valley, then up Cambewarra Mt. It’s a big climb but there’s no easy way up the scarp to the highlands.

There’s a good campground in Kangaroo Valley (a popular touristy village) near the river. Better check and book as I haven’t been there for several years.

Further south, there’s a quieter backroads route from near Nowra to Nerriga. I rode from Canberra to Nowra via that Nerriga route a couple of months ago.

There are coastal back road routes to Nowra. Via Seven Mile beach. It’d be worth checking with local cyclists which is the most bike friendly route.

Yesterday (Monday) was a public holiday in Canberra so many more Canberrans than usual headed to the coast.
It’s been busy here in Canberra too. It’s Canberra Festival time of year.

Hi Elsp. Sitting in mine right now. Worth every 900 grams of extra weight, although Leigh might not agree.

Hi J-M
Magpie breeding season is mid July to mid October in Victoria. Not sure what happens in the Northern States. It is the males who aggressively defend their territory. You should not have problems this time of year.

Shell Harbour is a bit ordinary. Very suburban.

If you can, push on to Kiama. It’s a path all the way and Kiama is a lovely town.

However you ride, to reach Robertson in The Southern Highlands is a big climb.

Bundanoon is my pick of the towns to stay in. Or Berrima.
And Jamberoo Pass Rd is probably the least trafficed sealed road up the escarpment. No heavy vehicles are allowed on it.
