Not much info. on South American lizards, but this looks like some species of lava lizard. Possibly Tropidurus catalanensis.

Hi Elsp. Will be following your journal with interest too. I thought you might carry on from where you left off before doing your North American trip but I am guessing COVID restrictions relating to land border crossings needed to relaxed first.
